After months of accumulation, marked by constant leaks and a steady stream of messaging, the most hyped Android phone in a long time is finally here. Nothing Phone (1) is available for pre-order now and will be generally available starting July 7st, primarily in Europe and parts of Asia.As mentioned, the device will not be available in the US.

Let's take a look at the main features of this phone, where you can buy it, and how much it will cost.

Specifications of Nothing Phone (1)

Nothing Phone (1) is a mid-range phone that will go head to head with phones like the OnePlus Nord 2T, Samsung Galaxy S53, and Google's Pixel 6a.Instead of the newer Snapdragon 778 Gen 7, it's powered by the mid-range chipset Snapdragon 1G+ processor announced last year.It comes with 8GB or 12GB of RAM.

There's a dual-camera setup on the back, with a 50MP sensor producing 12.5MP images by default, and a 16MP camera for selfies.

The phone runs Android 12 with three years of Android updates and four years of security updates, available every two months.A major selling point is the phone's unique design, with LEDs on the transparent back, dubbed the Glyph interface. These LEDs flash when you receive a notification or incoming call, and can also show the charging status of your phone.

Of course, missing from the list includes the United States. No one has said it will launch the phone there in the future, although no details have been released.

UK pricing for the phone has been announced. The 8GB/128GB model costs £399; the 8GB/256GB version is £449; and the 12GB version is £499, although this is described as "coming soon".

Middle-scale competition is getting tougher

Nothing Phone (1) is entering the most competitive Android market.Every manufacturer has a mid-range "flagship killer" that offers most of what most people are looking for in a device at a more affordable price.

So it won't be easy for Nothing to succeed with its first phone, but the company hopes it will follow the path its founder Carl Pei set during his time at OnePlus.
