Snippet: If Google does not have the necessary copyright clearance, you will only see up to three text snippets. These snippets show several sentences flanking a particular query.Reference books such as encyclopedias and dictionaries do not display snippets.
Previews: Most books on Google Books are available as previews. They are available books still in print, and Google has obtained permission from the copyright holder. If a book is in the preview category, you can view a different number of pages. All pages are watermarked and cannot be downloaded, saved or copied.
