Are you ready for a fresh start on Twitter? There are some online services that allow you to bulk delete all your past tweets so you can start from scratch.
Here's how to delete all your tweets...
Why would you bulk delete your tweets?
There are plenty of legitimate reasons to want to do a clean sweep on Twitter other than deleting your entire Twitter account.
You may want to avoid old, embarrassing tweets from being discovered in the future.Or, you're trying to rebrand yourself on social media.Maybe you want to use an old Twitter account for a different purpose.Or, you just want to distance yourself from Twitter.
Whatever your reason, we'll walk you through how to delete each of your tweets.
How many tweets does twitter store?
It's a common belief that you only have access to your most recent 3200 tweets, but that's not entirely true.Your Tweets and Replies tab will display your most recent 3200 tweets and replies. That doesn't mean the old tweets no longer exist.
Every single one of your tweets is searchable through Twitter's search console, unless they've been specifically removed. With that in mind, you should at least consider deleting all your old tweets.
Backup your old tweets first (optional)
Remember, once you delete your tweet, there is no going back.So if you have any concerns that you might regret this decision, Twitter does allow you to download your entire Twitter profile. This ZIP file contains every tweet and retweet you've ever sent (except the ones you've deleted), so you can store it wherever you like for later.
To download your Twitter profile:
1. Log in and go to your profile.
2. Click More on the left menu, then click Settings and Support > Settings and Privacy.
3. Click "Download your data archive" in "Your Account" and enter your password.
4. You will receive an in-app notification when your profile is ready to download.
Once you've done that, you can use one of the following services to get rid of your old tweets.
1. Tweet Delete
Tweet Deleteis one of the most popular services for managing your tweets. With it, you can choose to bulk delete past tweets and have future tweets automatically deleted after a certain amount of time has passed.
On a free account, TweetDelete can delete up to 10 tweets per month without requiring you to upload your Twitter profile. You can also delete up to 10 of your latest Twitter likes per month.
If you want to delete more than 10 tweets, you have to upgrade to the premium version and upload your archive as a ZIP file.TweetDelete then uses this file to delete each of your tweets.
For those with a low volume of tweets, TweetDelete is probably your best bet because it's so simple. You can clear your timeline and choose to automatically delete future tweets after:
one week
Two weeks
A month
Two months
Three months
Six months
One year
The script typically runs every few days, finds new tweets that enter the date range you set, and automatically deletes those tweets.Once deleted, there is no way to get them back.
If you want TweetDelete to stop deleting your new tweets, you can revoke its access to your Twitter account by going into Security & Account Access, tapping Apps & Conversations, then Connected Apps.Tap TweetDelete.net, then tap Revoke App Permissions.
2. Circleboom
circleboomis another popular, but pricey option that can come to your rescue when it comes to getting rid of those old tweets. It is like an all-in-one solution for managing your Twitter account with different tools to suit your needs. If you are someone who is active on social media, especially Twitter, then Circleboom might be perfect for you.
However, it's important to keep in mind that if you're just looking to delete tweets without any other Twitter management features, it's probably not the best option, as we wouldn't classify it as budget-friendly.
To delete your tweet, log into Twitter using Circleboom. You will be able to see a preview of the admin page.Click the trash can icon in the left pane and select a desired deletion option. You will need to subscribe to one of the plans offered to proceed.
3. Tweet Deleter
The third solid option on the list isTweetDelete. There is a free version of this tool that allows you to delete up to five tweets per month.
There's also a premium option that requires you to pay a monthly fee, but hear us out before you reject it outright. TweetDeleter does have some interesting features that you might be willing to pay for.The free version is enough to give you a look, but you'll need to upgrade if you want the app to actually be useful.
With a premium account, you can use the advanced search feature to bulk delete tweets that match certain criteria. You can set up automatic processes to delete tweets or disliked posts after a certain amount of time.Of course, you can also collectively delete all your tweets. And (for an additional fee), you can see a history of which tweets were deleted.
What happens to deleted tweets?
When you delete tweets in bulk, it may take a while for the changes to show up on your feed. This is because there is a limit to the number of requests these applications can send to Twitter per hour. This may take a while if you're deleting thousands of tweets.Still, it's certainly better than doing it manually.
When it comes to deleting tweets, according to Twitter:
When you delete a tweet, it's removed from your account, the timeline of any accounts that follow you, and search results on twitter.com, Twitter for iOS, and Twitter for Android.
Retweets of deleted tweets will also be deleted on twitter.com, Twitter for iOS and Twitter for Android.
Once a Tweet is deleted, the Tweet's content, associated metadata, and all analytical information about the Tweet will no longer be publicly available on Twitter.
If other people copy and paste some or all of your text into their own Tweets, their Tweets will not be deleted.
If other people add their own comments when retweeting your tweet, their tweet will not be deleted.
Tweets may be cached or cross-posted on third-party websites, applications or search engines. Twitter can't delete tweets that aren't on twitter.com, Twitter for iOS, or Twitter for Android.
keep your twitter account clean
Once you've cleaned up your tweets, it's a good idea to keep it that way.You can do this by only tweeting things that you know you won't mind being online for long periods of time.
Or, if you don't want to be so cautious about what you post, just choose to automatically delete tweets after a certain amount of time, and all the services mentioned in this article can do that for you. With this, you can have peace of mind knowing your tweets will be deleted from your account without having to do anything manually.
clean up your twitter account
By deleting many, if not all, of your past tweets, you can prevent them from being searched by the public and potential employers.Still, always remember that nothing on the web is ever completely deleted, as older versions of websites and copies of profiles are stored elsewhere (for better or worse).
Twitter will still have records of these deleted tweets in case they need to produce them for legal purposes. But at least they're safe from prying eyes, and you'll know there's less data "out there" in the easily accessible public domain.
